This contemporary building is no architectural gem, but the location near Plaça de Catalunya is pitch perfect for both L’Eixample and the old city. The Jazz is unusually family-friendly—its spacious, wood-floored guestrooms have sofa beds for children and baby cribs can be provided at no extra cost. A buffet breakfast including cold cuts and omelets cooked to order will set everyone up for the day. There’s no full-service evening restaurant, but you can order tapas on the roof terrace, whose largish pool is a pleasant surprise at these prices. After sunset the terrace converts into a chilled-out jazz lounge. Nice.
