Even if the interior is a hippy-era retro version of a Modernista original, the ambience of this little restaurant, which is literally in the shadow of the church of Santa Maria del Mar, feels authentic and warm. We like the gimmick of printing the menu on wine labels. Owners Sam and Joan make diners feel welcome, and the comfort-food dishes fill the soul and the belly. A specialty is the egg dish huevo de calaf, served over potatoes and accompanied by cod, liver, or the local sausage called butifarra. A modest wine list features local wines at a good price; try the Montsant red.
