In business for more than 30 years, this stalwart wins accolades for its clubby atmosphere and a menu that combines the best of Northern Italian cuisine with New American flair. The best room in the place has a glorious mahogany bar, high-backed booths, and a fireplace that warms the room all winter. The front dining rooms are more formal; the Back Door Bistro, which has a special pizza menu, is where entertainers play 5 nights a week in season (the Monday Night Jazz Ensemble plays from 7 to 10pm year-round). Special dishes include the cioppino, which is a lovely seafood stew, and the lobster ravioli.

For a nighttime activity, entertainment is 7 nights a week from April through October at this fun and lively venue for the younger crowds. Weekends feature a raw bar, and bands start playing at 4pm.
