This compact town is best explored on foot. At its heart in rue du Général de Dais is Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux, a Norman medieval structure consecrated in 1077 in the presence of William the Conqueror. It’s open daily 8:30am to 7pm. Entrance is free, although guided visits are available for 5€ at 10am and 2:15pm in July and August.
