Hôtel Le Globe

★★—Surrounded by the vines, the wine-growing village of Meursault is a lovely spot for a break. In the heart of the village, this spanking new hotel in a grand former home offers a stylish and relaxing stay that won’t break the bank. The vintage-chic rooms sport funky colors, from navy and yellow to purple and bright olive green. It sounds loud, but it works beautifully, with gold rimmed frames and mirrors, velvet headboards, and antique furniture adding a touch of class. The hotel restaurant is run by emerging chef Nicolas Marchant who serves wonderful, imaginative dishes like foie-gras with kombu seaweed and green apple, steamed lobster with seafood bisque and coriander, and chicken with girolles and crispy pasta–so eat in one day (fixed-price lunch 27€-32€ and dinner 55€-75€). Drink a Meursault wine and it may have come from the fields you can see from your bedroom window.
