One of the hot spaces for live music in Beijing, this mid-sized bar on the second floor of a hutong courtyard near the historic Drum and Bell Towers draws on a loyal fan base. An unassuming entrance leads up to a large interior with a few sofas and tables and a low stage. The décor is minimal but the vibe is lively. In the middle of the room is a retractable set of stairs that can be lowered from the ceiling, giving access to the terrace. The huge space there has an outdoor bar and offers stunning hutong views. Good local rock bands play here, with performances most nights of the week. With cheap drinks, friendly atmosphere, and good service, this dive pub is rightly popular. It stays open into the wee hours, still going strong after others leave off.
