On the northern slopes of Cave Hill, near Cave Hill Country Park, this zoo emphasizes conservation and education. Many rare species are bred here, including Hawaiian geese, lowland gorillas, red lechwe (a kind of antelope), sea bears, Barbary lions, and golden lion tamarins. The Rainforest House is a tropical environment filled with birds and jungle creatures. Most activity days are quite kid-oriented, although there are some more grown-up events too, such as all-day photography competitions. Check the website for up-to-date listings.
