Hotels in Belfast
Belfast’s hotel scene has grown in leaps and bounds during the last few years. A decade ago, expecting to find a top-quality boutique hotel or B&B for under £100 per room was a tough task; today, however, you have much more to choose from. Best of all, because Belfast is still developing as a major tourist destination, prices remain relatively low—although depending on where you’re from, that advantage can be quickly wiped out by the exchange rate, which is often worse for pounds than for euros.

Europa Hotel
For some time this has been a lodging of choice for big-name politicians, diplomats, and celebrities visiting Belfast. The decor is subtly masculine; the lobby has marble floors with a modern gas fireplace to take the edge off the chill. The large guest rooms are contemporary in…$$Around Town - Hotel
Malmaison Belfast
This is the only Irish outpost of Malmaison, a British mini-chain that specializes in turning unusual historic buildings into hip boutique hotels. This one used to be a seed warehouse, of all things. The Guesthouse at Ballylagan Organic Farm
Ballylagan is a fully certified working organic farm (the first in Northern Ireland, no less) and at the center of it all is this welcoming little 1840s farmhouse. Covered by lush vines, the two-story greystone building looks as if it, too, has grown out of the landscape. Patricia…$Around Town - Hotel
The Merchant Hotel
One of Ireland’s most luxurious hotels, the Merchant is a real treat. The Victorian building was once a bank, and the conversion is stunning, from the grand dining room (lacquered and gilded Corinthian columns, marble floors, ceiling friezes) to an elegant cocktail lounge…$$$Around Town
