One of the main landmarks of Belfast’s Golden Mile, the Grand Opera House opened in 1895. The interior is full of late-Victorian detail, including a grand auditorium with an elaborately painted frieze on the high ceiling. Severely damaged twice by IRA bombs, it underwent a full restoration in the early 2000s. A cornerstone of the Belfast live arts scene, it hosts a tremendous variety of shows, from touring plays, ballet, and opera to big-ticket musicals and concerts. Ticket prices vary, but expect to pay between £15 and £30 for most shows. Check the website for a current schedule.
