Planning a trip to Boca Raton
Getting to Boca Raton and Delray Beach
Like the rest of the cities on the Gold Coast, Boca Raton and Delray are easily reached from I-95 or the Florida Turnpike. Both the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and the Palm Beach International Airport are about 20 minutes away.
Amtrak (tel. 800/USA-RAIL [872-7245]) trains make stops in Delray Beach at an unattended station at 345 S. Congress Ave. High speed rail Brightline, has a station at 101 NW 4th St. in downtown Boca Raton, taking you as north as Orlando and south to downtown Miami, and there’s also a TriRail station at 680 Yamato Road, which goes as north as West Palm Beach and south as the Miami International Airport.
Getting Around Boca Raton and Delray Beach
A car in these parts is ideal, but new in 2024 is the BocaConnect, an on-demand shuttle similar to Uber and Lyft seating six people and offering free rides in the city’s downtown area, and some rides within a mile radius outside for $2 per rider, capped at $5 for groups per one way trip. Delray Beach offers a similar service called Freebee (tel. 855/918-5733), which is exactly as its name implies—a free, downtown electric shuttle service between A1A and close to 1-95 that you can either flag down or download an app on your phone to order.
