Secluded near the Langá River, 6km (3[bf]3/4 miles) from Borgarnes, this is one of Iceland’s oldest fishing lodges. Though it has passed through the hands of several families since it was built in 1884 by an Icelandic cabinet-maker, much of the historic charm remains, and current owners have paid considerable attention to making it as true to the original as possible despite a 2007 renovation. The smallish rooms feature wood-paneled walls and ceilings and are decorated with antique furnishings. Its restaurant uses recipes that have been passed down in the house for generations.
