Carlos Gardel was the biggest tango superstar the world has ever known. Handsome and charming, he wrote hundreds of lyrical three-minute tango songs that he sang in his dramatic style and they are the staples of the genre to this day. He toured the world and starred in films but it all started in his humble Buenos Aires childhood home, a casa chorizo (or long and narrow "sausage house") in the Abasto neighborhood. It is now open to the public and houses loads of Gardel paraphernalia. Tango lovers can't skip it.
