Planning a trip to Burgos

Burgos is well connected by train from Madrid (trip time 2–4.5 hr.) and Bilbao (trip time 2.5–3 hr.). Fares from Madrid range 18€‒35€; from Bilbao, 10€‒15€. The Burgos Rosa Manzano train station is about 7km (4.33 miles) northeast of the old city on Avenida Principes de Asturias, s/n.

Some 18 buses a day make the 2.45-hour trip from Madrid. A one-way fare costs 13€‒35€. The Burgos bus depot is at Calle Miranda, 4 (tel. 94-726-20-17), which intersects Plaza de Vega, south across the river from the cathedral.

Burgos is well connected to its neighbors by a network of highways. It’s a 3-hour drive from Madrid (follow the N-1 north) and a 90-minute drive from Bilbao.

The CITUR tourist office, Calle Nuño Rasura, 7 (tel. 94-728-88-74), is open daily 10am‒2pm and 4‒7:30pm (July–Sept 9am‒8pm).
