Hotels in Camaguey

Camagüey has an appealing supply of attractive and affordable hotels -- most owned and operated by the Cuban Islazul chain -- and several have undergone extensive restorations that have brought back their old-world charm. For visitors interested in homestays, there is a host of excellent private accommodations.

Inexpensive -- There are many excellent casas particulares in Camagüey. Casa Los Vitrales, Calle Avellaneda 3, between General Gómez and Martí (tel. 32/29-5866; requejobarreto@gmail.com), is a centrally-located colonial casa in a former seminary run by a very helpful family. The rooms are spacious and quiet, the breakfasts are filling, and there is a lovely courtyard. La Casa de Caridad, Calle Primelles 310A between Bartolomé Masó and Padre Olallo (tel. 32/29-1554; carmita1@enet.cu) has two ensuite rooms with fridges. The real draw of this house is the huge courtyard-garden with attractive white wrought-iron furniture and beautiful hanging white flowers. Reyes y Carolina, Calle Damas 221 between Horca and Medio (tel. 32/29-8907), is filled with kitschy toys. There are two rooms -- the one upstairs has more light -- and there's a huge roof terrace. Casa Manolo, Santa Rita 18, between República and Santa Rosa (tel. 32/29-4403; yohsbany@hotmail.com), has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms; one is larger with a bathtub, the other with shower. Casa Xiomara & Rodolfo, Oscar Primelles 615, between Lugareño and San Ramón (tel. 32/28-1948; cubarentur@gmail.com), has an amazingly large and well-equipped apartment that's a very nice option for two couples or a family traveling together.
