Getting There

By Plane -- The Campbell River and District Regional Airport, south of Campbell River off Jubilee Parkway, has regular flights on commuter planes from Vancouver on Pacific Coastal Airlines (tel. 800/663-2872; www.pacific-coastal.com).

By Car -- On the four-lane Inland Highway (Hwy. 19), Campbell River is 45km (28 miles) north of Courtenay and 266km (165 miles) north of Victoria. Campbell River is the end of this newly improved stretch of roadway. The old Island Highway, Hwy. 19A, also runs into the center of Campbell River, right along the water as you approach town.

By Bus -- Vancouver Island Coach Lines (tel. 250/388-5248, or book through Greyhound tel. 800/661-8747; www.greyhound.ca) offers bus transport from Victoria and Nanaimo to Campbell River. One-way fare from Nanaimo to Campbell River is C$32. (Nanaimo is the closest ferry service to the Vancouver area.)

Visitor Information

The Campbell River Visitor Info Centre, 1235 Shoppers Row (tel. 877/286-5705 or 250/830-0411; www.visitorcentre.ca or www.campbellriver.travel), is open daily in July and August, and Monday through Saturday the rest of the year.
