Keltic Quay

Overlooking the northeast shores of the Bras d’Or Lakes, this collection of 6 modern cottages, with one-bedroom suites on the upper level and separate two-bedroom suites below, all face the water to make the most of the stellar location year-round. In the summer, guests swim or paddle mere steps from the front door; and when the snow flies, they snowmobile to their accommodations. The main lodge is delightful, featuring a huge stone fireplace, wide windows showcasing the lake, a shuffleboard court and other games. There is no restaurant on-site, but each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen. The units are a bit motel-ish in looks, with shiny comforters and pre-tab art on the walls, but bedrooms are oversized, as are the bathroom and are immaculately clean. There’s a required two-night minimum stay in July and August. Convivial innkeeper Renie Rogers is good about alerting guests to activities in the area, especially Ceilidhs and other musical events.
