North Star Suites

Perched on a 1.6-hectare (4-acre) peninsula with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Louisbourg Harbour, the North Star Suites (formerly Point of View) underwent a transformation in 2022, led by renowned Scottish TV designers Colin and Justin (featured on Channel Five UK, Cottage Life TV, HGTV, and Cityline). The duo are mighty fond of rattan, and its everywhere from the headboards to the lamp bases, giving the guestrooms a beachy elan. No details are overlooked here when it comes to offering the comforts of home, from the fully outfitted kitchenettes, to the jacuzzi tubs, large plush towels, high-quality bed linens and super comfortable beds. Twelve of the newly renovated suites and rooms boast breathtaking ocean views and overlook the iconic Fortress of Louisbourg, while others offer serene garden vistas. This is the region’s only waterfront accommodation and the closest to the fortress; there’s also a private beach from which to enjoy that same view. The North Star Beach house here is a bookable two-bedroom home.

Residents and non-residents alike can dine at the excellent restaurants onsite: Coast offers comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch in an ocean-inspired space (sea foam tones, driftwood, and upholstered farmhouse chairs). The Bothy, designed to resemble a Victoran-era British railway station, offers a Maritime and French-inspired menu featuring such classics as bangers ‘n mash, boeuf bourguignon, and fresh seafood, along with vegetarian and vegan options and what locals hail as the province’s best chowder. It also features live folk music throughout the week and every weekend.
