Telegraph House
Since 1861, Telegraph House has hosted royalty and, for many years, Alexander Graham Bell himself. You have three room choices here—the main inn or simple motel units and cottages behind the house. Most rooms are rather ornate with floral wallpaper, lacey bedspreads, and carpeted floors. Some—particularly in the cottages—have a less cluttered look with hardwood floors and painted walls. The motel and cottages are uphill, so they do get glimpses of the lake, as do small balconies in the lodge. The Cable Room Restaurant has. in recent years ,been reinvented by talented chefs who have turned it into the place for fine dining in Baddeck with dishes like roasted quail in crabapple-honey whiskey, and white tablecloth service on the outdoor patio.
