Wuppertal -- There are four basic self-catering cottages in the village of Wupperthal (tel. 027/482-3410; R100/$14/£7 per person). Contact Cape Nature Conservation for camping and self-catering information in the Cederberg reserve (tel. 021/659-3500; www.capenature.co.za; R460-R690/$64-$96/£33-£49 for four); Rietdak, a thatched cottage 400m (1,312 ft.) from the river, is one of their best self-catering units. Recommended options in Clanwilliam itself are The Clanwilliam Lodge (tel. 027/482-1785) and the Saint Du Barry's Country Lodge (tel./fax 027/482-1537), a B&B with five units (R750-R950/$104-$132/£54-£68), each with a television and fridge. But for all-out luxury, with excellent guided tours of bushmen art, you can't beat Bushmans Kloof.
