This winery holds the distinction of being closest to the Pacific Ocean; it is also the proud producer of Chile's best sauvignon blanc (Los Cipreses 2005), quite the victory for a winery that has been around only since 2003. Casa Marin is the brainchild of winemaker María Luz Marin, ex-head of production at the gargantuan Viña San Pedro. Marin's pet project focuses exclusively on pinot noir and white varieties such as its sauvignon blanc, and riesling, gerwurztraminer, and sauvignon gris. The vineyards here are slope-planted and take advantage of varying soils and orientations -- producing outstanding results. Tours cost $17 (£11) per person, including one wine, and $28 (£19), including two wines. Premium tours can also be arranged (Sat only), which include a personal tour of the winery by Casa Marin owner and CEO María Luz Marin and a tasting of all Casa Marin wines ($120/£80).

Another reason to pay a visit here is Casa Marin's Corazón Vinospas, undoubtedly one of the finest spas in Chile, offering high-end treatments such as massages that blend Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, reiki, and energy healing, $75 (£50), and body treatments and facials, $60 (£40). Afterward, you can recline on their deck with a glass of wine (included in the price). The spa is open from early November to late April Monday through Saturday from 9am to 6pm, and Sundays by appointment only.
