From the center of town, on the west side of the bay, a long set of stairs leads up to the town cemetery, which occupies a small peninsula. Here, on the highest point, you will find this elegant white stone mausoleum, designed in 1921 for the Račić family by Croatia’s best-known 20th-century sculptor, Ivan Meštrović. For your stair-climbing trouble, you will also get fine views across the sea, with Dubrovnik visible in the distance.
