The welcoming and idyllic Korpudalur Kirkjuból Hostel (tel. 456-7808 or 893-2030; www.korpudalur.is; 6 units, none w/bathroom; June-Aug 13,000kr double; 5,000kr per person w/sleeping bag; breakfast available for 1,600kr; closed Sept-May) is in a 1912 farmhouse at the head of Önundarfjörður (on Rte. 627, 5km/3 miles southeast of Rte. 60). Ísafjörður is only 17km (11 miles) away, and airport pickup can be arranged. The hostel is also an excellent resource for arranging kayaking, sailing, and sea-angling trips.
