This islet was formed when the Cheongpyeong Dam was built and a lake was formed. A small piece of land in the shape of a half moon, it houses the grave of General Nami, who led a great victory against the rebels in the 13th year of the reign of Joseon King Sejo. Well known for its beautiful tree-lined lanes, it is a popular weekend getaway for the people of Seoul. There are no telephone poles on the island, since all electric wires were run underground to preserve its natural beauty. There is a theme park and sports center in the middle of the island with swimming pools, facilities for watersports, a merry-go-round, a shooting range, and a roller-skating rink. There is also a campsite and resort facilities for overnight visitors. The most beautiful times of the year are May, July, August, and October, which are also the most popular.
