Getting There

Chuncheon is located at the end of the Gyeongchun Rail Line, which connects the city to Cheongnyangni Station in Seoul (which you can access via Seoul subway, line 1). It costs about W5,500 to take the train from Seoul to Chuncheon Station, 190, Geunhoe-dong, Chuncheon-si (tel. 033/255-6550), or Namchuncheon Station, 366, Toegye-dong, Chuncheon-si (tel. 033/1544-7788). Trains run every hour and take about 1 hour and 50 minutes.

You can also take a bus from Seoul's Express Bus Terminal or the Sangbong Terminal to the Chuncheon Bus Terminal. Buses take about 90 minutes. From Incheon Airport, you can catch a bus directly to Chuncheon. Wait for the bus at platform 8A. Buses cost about W13,700. There are also buses available from Yangyang and Heongseong (Wonju) airports.

Driving to Chuncheon, the city is the northern end of the Jung-ang Expressway (road 55), which runs through Wonju and continues down south to Busan.

Getting Around

There are two train stations in town: Chuncheon Station, which is the end of the Gyeongchun Line, and Namchuncheon Station (formerly called Seongsan Station), which is the main station and located about 2km (1 1/4 miles) from the city center. There are no buses that run to the town center from the Namchuncheon Station, so you'll have to take a taxi or walk (30 min.). The Express Bus Terminal and the Intercity Bus Terminal are in the same place near the city center. Most of the city is concentrated around the shoreline of the lake.

Visitor Information

There is a tourist information center (tel. 033/255-3896; www.chuncheon.go.kr) near the bus terminal. Smaller tourist information booths are near Uiam Lake at Jogak Park (tel. 033/252-3600) and in front of Chaum Beach, which are also open daily from 9am to 6pm.
