O Trovador

A romantic place in the city's heart just in front of the old cathedral, "the Troubadour" offers the chance to eat traditional Portuguese food in refined surroundings and listen to some of Coimbra's best guitarists and fado singers. There are azulejos, vintage photos of the city and its illustrious inhabitants on the walls; and white-shirted waiters providing old-fashioned good service. The chanfana à Senhor da Serra, a emblematic dish from the hills above Coimbra involving goat slow-cooked in red wine, is excellent here.
