A Centro de Visitantes (Visitor's Center), open daily 8am to 5pm, with maps and a small exhibit on the region, is located within Aguada Blanca National Reserve, 45km (28 miles) outside of Arequipa. The office of the local Tourist Police (tel. 054/488-623) can be found on the Plaza de Armas in Chivay. It's open daily in the afternoon and should be able to provide hiking information. You can also pick up information in Arequipa from the tourist information office or one of the travel agencies that organize Colca trips.
