Hotels in Cooper Landing
The three lodges below can take care of everything, so you can set up your fishing and other activities with a single phone call. Also consider the Inn at Tern Lake, just 8 miles east on the Sterling Highway. The inn has its own fishing guide, Corey Hetrick, a son of the owners, going by the name Chugach Backountry Fishing (tel. 907/362-1224; www.chugachbackcountryfishing.com), who offers drift fishing on the Kenai and specializes in hike-in fishing to more remote streams.
If you want a simple room or cabin that is clean, comfortable, and inexpensive, try the Hutch Bed and Breakfast, Mile 48.5, Sterling Highway (tel. 907/595-1270; www.arctic.net/~hutch). In nice weather, you can sit at the fire pit and watch the rabbits hop by. The B&B has Wi-Fi and a covered picnic pavilion with a couple of grills.
