The Dry River Campground (tel. 603/374-2272), located inside Crawford Notch State Park, offers three dozen campsites in the notch for about $18 to $23 per night.

Also, if the main hotel at the Mount Washington Resort is full, there are two more properties in the resort complex, offering affordable lodgings and comparable views: the Bretton Arms Inn (next door to the big red-and-white hotel) and The Lodge (just across the hwy.).
