Dive aficionados make regular pilgrimages to the island for intensive multi-day dive holidays, and a number of lodgings cater to them with dive/stay packages. For bang for your buck, this friendly boutique dive resort is pretty unbeatable. It's oceanfront, a big boon right there (even though it doesn't have a beach per se; it's more like a seawall), but the waterfront infinity pool has sumptuous ocean views. The lodge rambles among five restored colonial buildings, each painted in gay hues and sporting decorative architectural  flourishes. Sun-splashed, wood-floored rooms are smallish (as befitting a historic property) but simple and chic, some with pitched ceilings and most with balconies or porches; ocean-view rooms are a little pricier but worth it. In addition to the standard lodge doubles, which accommodate two to three, Scubalodge also offers two-bedroom and three-bedroom suites, each with a full kitchen, living room, and a porch. The property is within walking distance of Willemstad's historic district and in the Pietermaai neighborhood, the city's lively (and getting livelier) "Latin Quarter." Better yet, for scuba fans, it boasts its own PADI dive shop.
