Opened in 2009 across from the storied Monasterio, this might be the most understated hotel in Cusco. The beautifully restored 16th-century colonial manor house doesn't have a sign out front, and there's not even a lobby or rooms with numbers. With just 11 suites, it's much smaller than the Monasterio (above); therefore, your experience will be more intimate. Staying at La Casona is like staying at a private home where everyone knows your name. The service is superb, and the personal concierges take care of guests' every need, from dinner reservations to booking private guided trips to the Maras salt mines. The huge rooms, which surround a stone courtyard, have heated wood floors and are decorated with actual Cusco School paintings. The hotel is part of the eco-friendly Peruvian chain Inkaterra and a member of the luxe Relais & Châteaux family.
