Located south of the city center, Bomunsan is a natural city park, throughout which there are ancient sites dating back to the area's Baekje past. At the entrance to the park are restaurants, accommodations, and a folk museum. The remains of a fortress, Bomunsanseong, are on the southern ridge of the mountain. The fortress was built there in the late Baekje Kingdom. Once you take the cable car up, there are several walking trails to explore, leading to a number of small temples, an amusement park, and a few war monuments. Above the amusement park is an observation site from which you can get a good view of the city below. An even better view can be had from the pavilion, which is part of the fortress wall.
