Guinsa (Guin Temple)
Squeezed into a narrow valley northeast of Danyang is this temple, the headquarters of the Cheontae sect of Buddhism (Korea's version of China's Taintai). Unlike most of the country's temples, this one is fairly new, having been founded by Monk Sangwon Wongak in 1945. Even still, the original was burned down during the Korean War, and the current building was completed in 1966, with expansions since. Although there are many buildings squeezed into this complex, the highlight is the five-story main hall, the only such building in the entire country.
