Hotels in Dawson

The Dawson City River Hostel (tel. 867/993-6823 summer only; www.yukonhostels.com) is just across from the Dawson Ferry. Beds are available in a variety of shared and private rooms in riverfront cabins. There's no electricity (though there is the midnight sun for a nightlight), and wood fire heats the sauna and the prospector's bath house. The rate for Hostelling International members is C$18, C$22 for nonmembers; private rooms cost C$46. The Gold Rush Campground (tel. 867/993-5247; www.goldrushcampground.com), at the corner of 4th Avenue and York Street, is right in Dawson and operated by very friendly folks; rates range from C$20 to C$40
