The Denmark Visitor Centre offers a free tour and accommodation booking service (tel. 08/9848 2055; www.denmark.com.au). It's open daily 9am to 5pm except on December 25. In this area there's little point staying in the towns, so look for places in the open country, with views and tranquillity. One of my favorites has always been Tree-Elle Retreat, Bow Bridge, Denmark, WA 6333 (38km/24 miles west of Denmark on South Coast Hwy.; tel. 08/9840 8471; www.treeelle.com), but its future is uncertain; I suggest you check.
