Inn at Arch Rock
Channel House is all contemporary luxury, and the Inn at Arch Rock is more like a wonderfully comfortable beach cottage with an emerald-green lawn above the cliffs and crashing surf. And some of the rooms here have views that, although not as close to the water, rival them for sheer eye-popping splendor. The original buildings in this small complex were cottages built in the 1930s; later, a motel-like building was added and, as of 2014, another new wing. The best rooms are on the second floor—especially #12 with corner windows and a cushioned bench below them that lets you sit or lounge with a book, with the ocean just below. There are some nice older features, like wood-burning fireplaces from the 1950s and a little staircase that takes you down to a small, surf-churned beach.
