Browns

One of Derry’s best restaurants, Browns serves excellent Irish food with international influences. The menu uses plenty of local and regional ingredients, embracing traditional flavors with a touch of well-judged, modern innovation. Menus change frequently, but start with the fresh Donegal crab or local wood pigeon, if they’re on the menu. Afterwards, how about monkfish with samphire and buttermilk, or beef filet with caramelized onion and broccoli? Vegetarians will be delighted to see a full menu of non-meaty options, including some tasty spiced falafel, served with creamed spinach. A 9-course tasting menu costs £45 (£75 with wines) and a 2-course early-bird special £25. A more casual sister branch, Browns in Town (028/7136-2889), is on Strand Road.
