Mavi, which opened in 2015, is a beautiful little hotel 300m from the beach, with eight identical, air-conditioned rooms. Stunning murals by local artist Marvin Fonseca Vargas enliven a coherent interior and exterior design, with a font that looks like green bamboo used for lettering, even the handicapped parking logo. The name “Mavi” comes from the first two letters of the Italian owners’ two daughters’ names, and the rooms are identified by the letters M, A, V, I, and S, U, R, F. All rooms have one king-size bed, a private patio, and a kitchenette corner with sink and fridge (no stove). The hotel serves breakfast but not lunch or dinner, though it does have a small bar for guests.
