Her four-room family’s house is known as Maison Natale de Jeanne d’Arc, 2 rue de la Basilique (tel. 03-29-06-95-86). Here you can see the chamber where she was born. TLocated beside the house, the newly renovated Centre Johannique is a museum dedicated to the life and times of St. Joan. The site is open July and August daily 10am to 6:30pm, April to June and September Wednesday to Monday 9:30am to 1pm and 2 to 6pm, and October to March Wednesday to Monday 10am to 1pm and 2 to 5pm.Admission is 5€ for adults, 3€ for ages 18-26, and free for children 17 and under. The house is closed in mid-December through January.

Adjacent to the museum, on rue Principale, is Eglise St-Rémi; repairs and partial reconstructions from the 19th century have masked its 12th-century origins. All that remains from the age of Joan of Arc are a baptismal font and some stonework. On a slope of the Bois-Chenu 1.5km (1 mile) uphill from the village is a monument steeped in French nationalism, the Basilique du Bois-Chenu, built on the spot Joan is said to have heard the voices. It's pictured above. Made of local Vosges pink granite and decorated with mosaic and monumental statues celebrating the saint, it was begun in 1881 and consecrated in 1926. To reach it, follow signs from the center and along rue de la Basilique.
