Château de Castelnaud

Looming over the valley from the other side of the river is this magnificent castle, which is particularly well suited to the kids in your party. Originally built in the 12th century, the château played a role in the Albigensian Crusades, as well as the Hundred Years’ War, making it an appropriate setting for a museum dedicated to the military campaigns of the Middle Ages. Armor, swords, and other weapons are on display inside; various war machines (catapults, trebuchets, and so on) can be found outside, as well as medieval activities like a smithy working at his forge.
