Drake Bay Wilderness Resort
This has one of the best locations of all the lodges in Drake Bay, on a large chunk of land with the Agujitas River and Drake Bay on one side and the open Pacific Ocean on the other. Rooms feature hand-painted murals on concrete walls, and comfortable beds. A couple of budget rooms share bathrooms and shower facilities. The shoreline right at the lodge is a bit too rocky for swimming, but there’s a nice pool naturally fed and filled with seawater. Owner Marleny, who founded the resort with her husband Herbert, in 1985 and raised three kids there’s is renowned for her chocolate-chip cookies.
