Linda’s Local Food Cafe

Proprietor Linda Illsley trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and worked all over Europe before opening her eponymous eatery in 2003. With chalkboard menus, a sunny patio, and decor from local suppliers—the restaurant sources as much as 75 percent of ingredients from Durango-area farms and ranches—Linda’s makes authentic Mexican dishes like tamales, chile rellenos, and burritos. The tamales are the specialty: Illsley and company grind the corn in-house, and stuffs them with pork, chicken, or zucchini and corn. Local beer and craft cocktails are available. Highly recommended: the homemade limeade with fresh basil.
