The primary place for accommodations and food for most visitors is the Grand Aleutian Hotel. There are also a variety of fast-food places and locals eateries, including a multi-ethnic restaurant at the airport serving those stranded by weather delays, and a not-so-fast place called Dutch Harbor Fast Food, near the Russian Orthodox church on Iliuliuk Bay.

One place meriting greater mention is Harborview Bar and Grill, at the edge of the Unisea Fish Processing Campus near the Museum of the Aleutians on Amaknak Island (tel. 907/581-7246). Its a very casual spot to get a halibut sandwich, salad, quesadilla, or terrific fish tacos, with quick service and a large bar, which is where you go to dance or hear open-mic musical performances in the evening; it's open daily for lunch and very late at night. All meals are $12 to $15. Within the Harborview, Harbor Sushi (tel. 907/581-7190) had a very good chef on our last visit producing some great combinations with local seafood. It's open every evening but Wednesday, 5 to 11pm; prices are $15 to $20.
