Planning a trip to El Puerto de Santa Maria

The third point of the Sherry Triangle, and the least well-known, El Puerto de Santa María is next to Jerez and Sanlúcar. It feels a little neglected, but it makes a memorable day trip from Cádiz. The simplest way to get there from Cadiz is to take the catamaran ferry from the harbor in front of Plaza de San Juan (tel. 95-503-86-65). The frequent, 20-minute crossing costs 2.80€ each way. From Jerez, it’s a 25-minute drive on the A-4.

There is also direct service by train from Seville, or suburban trains from Jerez de la Frontera or Cádiz.

If you have a car and are in Jerez, just follow the signs south. There are two arteries going into Puerto de Santa María; the N-IV is faster.
