Accommodations include a campground, dorm rooms, and private thatch-roof bungalows. Plus, there's an inviting lake for swimming and plenty of nearby rainforests, caves, and rivers to explore.
A few very inexpensive options, catering to the backpacker crowd, are right in El Remate. I recommend simply walking around to see which one best fits your fancy and budget. One good option is Hotel Mon Ami (www.hotelmonami.com; tel. 502/7928-8413).
