The once-fabulous Seale Guest House, recently reopened as Le Village Guesthouse, is the best choice with any character. Set amid sprawling greenery, the main house plus a separate bridal suite feature antique country furnishings; room prices range from $85 to $125 (125 Seale Lane; tel. 337/457-3573; www.levillagehouse.com). There's also a Days Inn and Suites, with microwaves and fridges in the consistently clean rooms (1251 E. Laurel Ave. [Hwy. 190 E.]; tel. 337/457-3040); the Holiday Inn Express, in our experience, a very reliable chain (1698 Hwy. 190; tel. 337/546-2466); or the newish, basic Best Western (1531 W. Laurel Ave.; tel. 337/457-2800). All three have complimentary continental breakfasts.
