Getting There

After crossing either the Bourne or Sagamore bridge, take Route 28 or 28A south. Crossing the Bourne Bridge will get you closer to your destination. Or fly into Hyannis.

Falmouth's bus station near the center of town is serviced by Peter Pan Bus Lines (59 Depot Ave.; tel. 888/751-8800 or 508/548-7588; Daily express buses run to and from Boston's Logan Airport ($30 one-way, $55 round-trip), as well as Boston's South Station train and bus terminal ($27 one-way, $52 round-trip). There are also daily buses to Providence, Rhode Island ($30 one-way, $58 round-trip); T. F. Green Airport in Providence ($35 one-way, $62 round-trip); and New York City ($74 one-way, $123 round-trip). Off season, there are discounts for 7- and 14-day advance purchases.

To get around Falmouth and Woods Hole (where parking in summer is impossible due to ferry traffic to Martha's Vineyard), use the seasonal (late June to Labor Day) Whoosh Trolley (tel. 800/352-7155;, which makes a circuit every 20 minutes down Falmouth's Main Street to Woods Hole from 9:30am to 7:10pm Monday to Friday, and until 9:30pm on weekends from late May to late September and later in midsummer. You can pick up the trolley at the Falmouth Mall on Route 28, where there is plenty of parking. You can also flag down the trolley anywhere along the route. The trolley fare is $1 per trip or $3 for a 1-day pass.

Tip: The Whoosh Trolley's extended hours (until 10:30pm Fri-Sat in July and Aug) means you can use it to go down to Woods Hole in the summer for dinner. Otherwise, parking in Woods Hole in high season can be a major challenge.

The Sealine Shuttle (tel. 800/352-7155) connects Woods Hole, Falmouth, and Mashpee with Hyannis year-round (except holidays). The fare ranges from $1 to $4, depending on distance; children 4 and under ride free.
