It would be easy for this timbered, atmospheric little place that lays claim to being the oldest wine bar in the world, dating from 1435, to rest on its laurels. Titian was a regular, Copernicus is said to have lived upstairs while studying for his degree in 1503, and it looks like some of the dusty bottles stacked above the cramped tables have been around ever since. Locals (some of whom look like they’ve been around awhile, too) still pack the place, and waiters take earnest pride in recommending wines from throughout Italy, most available by the glass, accompanied by a short menu of cappellacci di zucca (squash ravioli) and a few other local specialties.
