Le Tub
Hands down, this is one of the coolest, most unpretentious, quintessential pre–swanky So Flo restaurants. Established in 1959 as a Sunoco gas station, Le Tub was purchased in 1974 by a man who personally transformed the place into this waterfront restaurant, made out of flotsam, jetsam, and ocean-bone treasures gathered over 4 years of jogging on Hollywood Beach. As you walk in, take note of the hand-painted bathtubs and toilet bowls used as planters lining the walkway. Inside is a divey bar complete with pool table and jukebox; but outside seating on the deck is the best option. Le Tub is famous for its burgers (which Esquire magazine and Oprah once declared the country’s best, thereby increasing the masses who flock here a millionfold), chili, and seafood.
