Tropical Acres Steakhouse

Near Rustic Inn is yet another SoFlo dining landmark, this time, an old school steakhouse dating back to 1949, when New York restaurateur Gene Harvey decided to turn an old-frame house into a carnivorous club of sorts. Fast forward to the twenty twentys and people are still packing it for fantastic prime rib and lobster specials at old-school, reasonable prices. Tropical Acres is the quintessence of steakhouse casual—not an oxymoron in these parts—but there is a piano player that gives you that clubby vibe if you’re missing it. Food is delicious, fresh, and service is exceptional and professional. In keeping with the old school vibe, reservations are only taken on the phone and are highly recommended, though there is a bar area up front in which you can also dine in case you can’t score a table—which is likely if not booked ahead of time.
