This absolutely stunning gallery, just steps from the Historic Garrison District, is easily the best art museum in the Maritimes, and home to an extensive collection of British paintings, including works by Reynolds, Gainsborough, Constable, and Turner. Major renovations in recent years have greatly expanded the museum, adding an additional 23, 000 square feet including a café, a large gift shop with unique local souvenirs, and more exhibit space overall. Antique buffs gravitate to the rooms with period furnishings and early decorative arts, while others find themselves drawn to Salvador Dalí’s massive painting, entitled Santiago El Grande.
